The symposium (ISIMP 2001) is jointly organized by the IEEE Hong Kong Chapter of Signal Processing and the Centre for Multimedia Signal Processing of the Department of Electronic and Information Engineering, HKPolyU. It strives to bring together people who specialize in multimedia signal processing, communications and computer technology, and it will be an international forum for the report and discussion of the latest developments, generation of new ideas, and development of insights regarding the current and future applications of these technologies. The Symposium has received a lot of support and favourable responses from many institutions and organisations. More than 130 papers from 12 countries have been accepted for presentation at the Symposium.
