OVERVIEW
The Department of Electronic and Information Engineering (Department of Electronic Engineering before August 1998) was founded in 1974. With over 70 postgraduate research students, 250 coursework postgraduate students, and 500 full-time undergraduate students, the department is among the largest academic units in Hong Kong providing a full range of tertiary programmes in electronic and information engineering. Numerous prizes were won by students in various external contests and exhibitions, reflecting on the high academic standards and practical value of students. Academic staff members are highly recognized in their respective areas of research, delivering an impressive record of publication in a few selected areas including multimedia signal processing, power electronics, nonlinear circuits and systems, and microelectronics and optical communications.

NEWS

  1. Prof. W.C. Siu and Prof. Alex Wai elected as IEEE Fellows 2012. The department now boasts a stronger research-oriented faculty with 5 IEEE Fellows.

  2. Dr Humphrey Leung, Chairman & Group CEO of Solomon Systech Ltd., appointed as the Chairman of Departmental Advisory Committee starting in October 2011.

  3. Prof. Michael Tse appointed to the prestigious post of Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Circuits and Systems Magazine, a high-impact IEEE journal.

  4. Members of the Departmental Advisory Committee (DAC) and academic staff members bidding the DAC Chairman, Mr John Mok, farewell on 26 August 2011.

  5. Our EIE Students Team was First Runner-up in this year’s Robocon Hong Kong Contest, and also won the Best Engineering Award and Best Artistic Award.
